The Conversation Room

THE CONVERSATION ROOM was aimed towards culturing interest in rising young 18-35 yr old (particularly female) artists of spoken word, known for challenging norms and the status quo in society.

HIFA searched for spoken word content from Malawi, Zambia and Zimbabwe which addressed different themes not limited to gender-based violence, child abuse, freedom of expression, the effects of global warming on the environment and natural resources, migration arts and culture.

Submissions were in the form of poetry performances, storytelling, interfaced with some elements of music and visual art and the poetry performances will include a wide range of performance styles, including direct delivery, rap, slam, hip-hop, etc.
