Ode To The Women That Suffer In Silence

ARTIST: LITS’ITSO NTHABI
COUNTRY: LESOTHO
MATERIALS USED: PENCIL and OIL PASTELS

Ode to the scarred women,

To whom pain is no stranger.

Agony carved on their skins,

Scars a permanent reminder of the cruelty they are experiencing.

Each day a piece of them dies in remembrance.

Ode to the young girl who is cruelly hurried into womanhood.

Stripped off of their innocence and clothed in shame.

You are not alone.

  • This piece highlights the domestic violence and abuse that seems to be prevalent especially in these trying times. My piece focuses mostly on women and children as they are likely to become victims of domestic abuse.
  • The World Health Organisation (WHO) requires everyone to be in self-quarantine and unfortunately for some people home is not homely and safe as is for others.
