BLOSSOM

ARTIST: NATASHA PHIRI
COUNTRY: ZAMBIA
MATERIALS USED: COFFEE and FOOD COLOURING

In this global pandemic, the world has seemingly gone into a valley of death where most lives, businesses, employment is lost. But yet one thing still stays alive; ART…the ability to create to dream to bring forth through paint, pencils, etc. To me, Art still stands even in the face of COVID-19 to give a story of hope even when the eyesight says otherwise.

Using food colour and coffee showed me that I could still be creative and use what’s around me regardless of my financial challenges due to the pandemic. Personally, this showed me Art reflecting it’s the feminine self as it births beauty regardless of the pain it still BLOSSOMS it can still thrive even in these times giving hope proving its resilience.

This valley might be filled with the trees of uncertainty showing no life. But much like the sun that rises every day, we are not cast down by a new enemy nor do we allow our hearts to fail because of its daunting size but like a tree covid or no COVID-19, we do what we do best in the face of adversity…..THRIVE
