2018 IPDCtalksSA – Shatewa Kanyembo (Media Contribution to the SDGs)

The media has a huge contribution to make to the SDGs. They should interpret the SDGs in the language the local people understand in order to involve them as we hold authorities accountable and fight poverty, hunger, among other things. This can only be done if national authorities provide conducive regulations for the free flow of information through the media and ICTs. I strongly believe putting in place laws that allow the media to freely access information, will highly contribute to the SDGs as authorities will be transparent, hence, reducing corruption; bringing about development.
